Great Wall - China

from $150.00

China's New Great Wall of wind turbines in the distance above the crumbing Guangwu section of The Great Wall in the Xinzhou area of the wall, Shanxi, China. China is creating the new Great Wall to harness energy from the wind. China is the world’s leader in installing wind turbines, with more than 330,000 have been installed since 2021 (more than those as many as the United States), generating 329 GW of power. The section of the wall was integral to the defensive system built around the Yanmen Pass. Nomadic invaders would attack the Guangwu section since it was to the north and west of the pass during the the Mongol invasion of China started in 1211 when Genghis Khan's forces took on the northern Chinese Jin Empire. Today, much of this far western section of the Great Wall is falling to ruin.
